More on morality

Another story on morality. This one takes a more aggressive stance. Having not read the book in question, I can't put forth an opinion, but here's the link.

  1. Seriously? "The Catholic Church is more concerned about preventing contraception than preventing child rape; it’s more concerned about preventing gay marriage than genocide." Are you freaking kidding me? This is the guy you want me to listen to on the idea of morality? The man apparently can't even keep a civil tongue in his head. Tell me, when the tsunamis and earthquakes happen who looks for Atheist relief groups before they look for Christian ones? I'm not saying that Atheists don't help out when tragedy strikes, but to say crap like that is not just out of line, it's slander and honestly not that different from hate speech. Seriously, when you find me a Atheist speaker who doesn't sound like the anti-religious Jerry Falwell I'll consider listening to his ideas on how to decide what's right and what's wrong.

If you want bad science Harris then I'll point you to a scientist trying to discover morality. Tell me, just how does one measure good? What experiment does a person use to find the evil quotient in a dictator. Honestly, that entire article is ridiculous. Of course we should be using science to discover better ways of living. That has always been the reason to gain greater knowledge. If that is what is in his book, then congratulations Mr. Harris, you've succeeded in telling us all something we already knew.
